It's a crying shame because Rod was put on Earth to blog about a conspiracy where a gay billionaire is building a harem to accelerate transhumanist heresy but he's refusing his destiny.
Rod Dreher might be trying to swing fists at Nick Fuentes, but none of his fists will land. What makes Dreher’s would-be attacks on Fuentes absurd is that Dreher does far-right talking points when he lights his hair on fire over immigration and critical race theory. That Dreher talks like a white nationalist when he uses phrases like “anti-white”. For him to complain about people like Fuentes is like watching someone buy shots for everyone at a bar and then wonder why so many people are drunk.
It constantly astonishes me how many Orthodox (of all people) will lower their doctrinal and dogmatic standards to ingratiate themselves to right wing influencers. Jonathan Pageau to Jordan Peterson; Fr. Josiah Trenham (and a few others) to Charlie Kirk; and now Rod Dreher to Peter Thiel.
Good writing, as for the Soros comparison Id disagree, Soros isn't really the one leading his network anymore, its his son.
And his sons ideology is a much woker format of his father. Id also argue that Thiel's power is more concentrated / public, where as Soros built his network more slowly and under the cover of less media attention. It looks like Thiel is more influential but Soros still starts political riots like No Kings without really being attacked or noticed for it. Thiel is still far from Soros's level of political control and social control.
unsurprisingly I disagree as far as power differential goes. Thiel is certainly more intelligent than Soros imo (something I think most people would agree with me about), his model of power and the world is significantly more sophisticated than Soros'. Regardless, I would like to cover this issue (comparing to Thiel to Soros) in a more detailed in thorough manner in the future.
Just curious as to how Soros "started" No Kings. That's like saying Talleyrand "started" the March on the Bastille. Granted, Talleyrand probably laughed his head off about it...
So you were there and interviewed the protesters? I know a lot of people up where I live who went out and protested, and many of them were retired, and many of them were not, but none of them were professional protesters. And there are sign companies in every city in this country.
BTW, as I've often said, if Soros is handing out checks to why haven't I gotten mine yet? (Too old to get out and protest now, but in my day...) And if he's paying people to protest, why isn't everyone signing up to get the checks? And has anyone ever seen one?
This was very clarifying. I was wondering what his deal was. Now his jihad against Fuentes makes sense. And his bizarre Zionism when he also believes in Orthodox Christianity also makes more sense.
I kinda think Fuentes won’t ultimately submit to Thiel. He’s too abrasive and proud. He puts his American nationalism above his Catholicism, but he seems to sincerely believe in God. He is interested in more than just money and power. He knows Vance is not America First and won’t be able to stomach this. His reaction to Tucker’s carrot shows this.
I had to look it up. Looks like an effort to punish Theil for challenging the prevailing leftist tilt of tech world. But then I never take Rod Dreher seriously. He seems to be a professional bed wetter.
Soros wrecked East Asia financially, almost ruined the British Pound and the Chinese had to come up with a strategy to survive him. Soros has the institutions, the major magazines, and is part of a much bigger network that is mainstream. Soros can finance a bunch of protesters to do completely illegal things and then hook them up with judges to get away with it. Like...

Dreher always reminds me of Dr Smith from the old Lost In Space.

Well, they had uniformly printed mass-produced signs, and at least a few professional protesters with no visible means of support.

Brilliant and unsettlingly discerning article.
A terrific post. You note almost in passing that Vance believes in nothing: while this trait may be shared by all politicians, it reaches it apotheosis with JD, something too few commentators have paid attention to. For what it's worth, I wrote about these associations (minus Dreher) recently: in my view, Thiel is more a child of Nietzsche. 'Fully enlightened.' https://open.substack.com/pub/thomasvondriska/p/the-madman-in-the-marketplace?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web
What is Gay Space Fascism?
I discuss this concept here: https://open.substack.com/pub/thomasvondriska/p/the-madman-in-the-marketplace?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

This is one of the most petty and sad things I’ve ever read.
Please explain what you mean
I'm skeptical of Vance as well, but I really don't see what the better option is. Neoconish types like Rubio? Whoever the Democrats put up?
I'm skeptical of Drehr.
